The Garden Gates opened in 1990 as the brainchild of Co-Founders Chad Everett Harris and Jacqueline Elizabeth 'Beth' Kendall-Harris. The husband-and-wife team sought to start a retail operation that complemented both Chad's gardening and landscape design acumen and Beth's eye for style and design. Today, Beth plays an instrumental role in product development, interior design and the fine-tuning the core principles of The Garden Gates lifestyle, while Chad is the brains behind the creativity of the brand, marketing, and technology of the business.
Their sons, Aiden and Ashton Harris, took over the operations of the company in July 2015. Aiden and Ashton spent years working in the traditional brick and mortar business and with the closing of the families retail store in August 2015; Ashton Harris converted the once destination lifestyle store to a fully functional online destination.
Aiden and Ashton Harris attend the LSU in Baton Rouge while working towards degrees in Finance, Business and Computer Science. Together, with their team of landscape architects and designers, they work towards providing high-quality home and garden decor that will stand the test of time.
