What is Satin?
Satin is a silky-smooth and luxurious fabric. Rather than being made from a specific material, satin fabric is a type of weave, and it can actually be made from different types of thread. For example, it can be woven from silk, rayon, nylon, polyester, or even cotton (in which case it’s usually called “sateen”). Since satin is so high quality and difficult to sew, it has always been reserved for high-end and luxury items instead of being used for everyday clothing. Satin is a versatile fabric that is wonderful for making dresses, blouses, ties, and other high-quality clothing items. It’s also great for luxury bedding and upholstery.
Bella Notte Linens uses the highest quality satin for its bedding items. Whether made entirely with satin or just trimmed with satin along the edges, our bedding is designed for quality and luxuriousness. These lustrous, silky bed linens are cut, dyed, and sewn to order, so each piece is hand made just for you.

What is Tencel?
Tencel™ is actually a brand name, but it refers to a strong, soft fabric that has become quite popular in recent years. The fabric is also known as lyocell, and it’s similar to rayon. Tencel/lyocell is made from the cellulose fibers that are present in trees. Soft, luxurious fabric that comes from wood—who would have thought?! The manufacturing process doesn’t sound very glamorous: the threads are made by dissolving wood pulp, then drying it and pushing it throughout tiny holes. Next, the threads are treated to make them softer and more durable and the threads are spun into yard and woven into fabric. Tencel is breathable and great for clothing and linens.
The Isabella collection by Bella Notte Linens is made from Tencel fabric. It has a delicate rose bloom pattern woven into the Tencel fabric, creating a subtle floral jacquard print.
The Madera Luxe collection is 100% soft and luxurious Tencel fabric. Since it does not have a pattern, it won’t compete with other bedding in your collection, and it mixes and matches with all Bella Notte Linens items.
Both the Isabella and Madera collections are available in all the current Bella Notte Linen colors and are hand made to order.
Are satin and Tencel™ fabrics eco-friendly?
Tencel is made from plant materials rather than synthetic materials, and it takes less waste, water, and energy to produce than cotton does. Tencel is also biodegradable, which is great news for our planet. Tencel fabric manufacturers are sure to ONLY use sustainably-sourced wood for the fabric, so you won’t have to worry about deforestation due to Tencel fabric.
