Choosing a Chair

There are many types of chairs for the home, and there are many chairs that function as multipurpose elements in home decor. Chairs will add seating, of course, but they can also be used to cure an empty space, add color, add texture or to balance/enhance a specific look. All of these names can be a lot to take in, and it’s not necessary to memorize all the styles when shopping for the perfect chairs. Just make sure that they complement the other pieces of furniture in the same room. For instance, pay attention to the shape and arms of your sofa, how would you categorize the coffee table and side tables, what do the legs of the dining room table look like? These are just a few things to consider when trying to work furniture together.

Luckily we have many chairs, both wooden and upholstered, from different designers for selection. Shop Moss Studio, Cyan Design, Aidan Gray, Zuo Design, Tritter Feefer, Zentique and more. All of these furniture companies are able to design many different styles and looks, and some even offer custom features to make the chair truly your own. Browse the Moss Studio collection here.

Add a pair of chairs across from a sofa in a living room or den or use a chair to accent an empty space in a living area. Often, there is a small area or wall near a walkway that needs just a little something. Chairs also look nice on either side of a console or accent table in these types of spaces. In dining rooms, chairs are obviously needed around the table. If you have a table with the leaf taken out, place the chairs around the room near a buffet table, doors or windows if there is not enough space around the table. Creating a comfortable sitting area in a bedroom can be done with a decorative chair near the bed or across the room as a reading space. There are many uses for the different styles of accent chairs.
