Description

Guy Wolff Garden Pottery has become the best known line of handmade pottery in the US, drawing inspiration from historic garden pottery of 18th and 19th century England, France, Italy and the United States. The Garden Gates is delighted to be one of the exclusive retailers to offer Guy Wolff's pottery.

Guy Wolff, a master potter from Litchfield, CT specializes in breathing new life back into historical pottery designs. As was the custom long ago, Guy Wolff & Co. pots are sold by the wet weight of the clay, which is stamped into every piece along with the date and brand mark.

Guy's work has been featured in many magazines, including Horticulture, Country Living Gardener, Victoria, Martha Stewart Living and the New York Times. He has been a frequent quest on Martha Stewart Television, and his pots decorate the greenhouse portion on the set of the new "Martha" daytime show on NBC.

Drawing upon historic designs of the 18th and 19th century England, France, Italy and America, Guy Wolff garden pottery has become the best known line of handmade pottery in the country. We are proud to be one of the exclusive retailer's of Guy's fabulous line of pottery.

Care and Use: Natural salts, minerals, soil content and fertilizers will be absorbed by the pot and will evolve the finish over time, as Guy intended. For those who wish to retain the original finish, leave your plants in the plastic growers pot. In cold climates, bring these 100% natural terra-cotta pots indoors before a frost.

Guy Wolff always wanted to make a line of pots that was easy enough on the pocketbook that one could "Fill a Green House with them" - traditional in form and in beautiful proportions - to answer many gardening needs. He has succeded, and we present them to you here.

You truly could fill a green house with these pots. Now the only question is which plants to fill these gorgeous pots with!

  • In Victorian England, local potters made terra cotta pots in huge quantities for the conservatories or greenhouses of local estates. These pots probably cost pennies a piece, because each greenhouse needed to be stocked with thousands of pots; used to start, propogate and "winter over" their plants. The Guy Wolff Greenhouse Collection reproduces the simple and functional qualities of the 19th century greenhouse pots, as well as their value price point.
